A book I've been looking forward to has been scheduled for release Are new books published in the UK generally available in France?
A book I've been looking forward to has been scheduled for release on the same day that I'll be arriving in France for a holiday with my family. The publisher is Headline in the UK (Random House in the US). Can I count on being able to find newly-published books in English in France? We'll be staying in Paris for two weeks.
Answers: In the provinces there is little chance of you finding a newly released book in English but in Paris there are over forty bookshops selling English books. Some are antiquarians and second hand, but there are several that sell new brand new books.
Here is a list of the bookshops that sell new or recently published English books, with addresses and telephone numbers:

Whether you can count on finding the book you are looking for on the very day it is released is not guaranteed, but you can phone them or call in personally if you are in the area.
Sometimes books are released by major booksellers ahead of the publishing date, so do not rule out finding the book you wish to buy on the shelves of major chain owned booksellers or at the airport before you leave. WH Smith number 248 on the rue de Rivoli is probably your best bet in Paris.
I can understand your eagerness to get hold of the volume that you want, but please do not let this spoil the enjoyment of visiting Paris. The book will be on the shelves when you get back home, but you may not be able to go back to Paris for a long time, so make the most of it.
Good luck!
